Balloonbike tires Balloonbikes use the special BIG APPLE tire from SCHWALBE. The Balloonbike trend began with the BIG APPLE in 2001. With the classical bicycle valve (Woods/Dunlop) it is not easy to maintain and inflate to the correct pressure. Therefore we recommend using tubes with Presta/High Pressure or Auto/Car valves. And by using an Auto valve the pressure can easily be maintained by using a service station air-line. Air pressure What pressure to inflate to for maximum comfort will depend upon body weight and luggage. Besides which, comfort is always a subjective feeling, so our recommendation is to try the following: Comfort pressure with 50 mm tire width: 2.0 – 2.5 bar Comfort pressure with 60 mm tire width: 1.5 – 2.0 bar Increased load weight due to heavier body weight or luggage will require an appropriate increase in inflation pressure.
