Rolling resistance

At the same air pressure the BIG APPLE rolls with about 10 Watts less energy. And with inflation pressure at a comfortable 2 bar the BIG APPLE has approximately the same rolling resistance as a standard tire at 4 bar.

In practice, power saving is even greater than in theory: The cushioning action of the wide tires smoothes out unevenness, keeping the rider free from vibrations and so saves energy.

On a flat road the Big Apple tire was measured to have consumed around 11 percent less power. Consequently 11 percent less energy would be needed to reach the same distance in the same time. (These tire/air pressure combinations were accurately verified in the laboratory with an identical rolling resistance on a completely even surface).
