Simple fact. Balloonbikers experience less rolling resistance.
At the point of contact with the ground, Balloonbike tires deform in quite a different way to narrow tires, so less energy is lost, which is completely unlike what one would expect: Balloonbike tires are wide yet nevertheless roll more easily than standard narrow tires. Specifically: A Balloonbike with 60 mm wide tires at 2 bar air pressure rolls amazingly easily, with a full suspension effect.

A normal City or Trekking bike attains a similarly good rolling resistance only if the 37mm narrow, standard tires are inflated to a hard, 4 bar pressure.
